In the movie Maria Full of grace, she had to make a decision weather to continue to work her dead end job, or work as a mule. She really needed the money for her family so she chose to become the mule because it was easy money. She did not do it for herself, but for family. She was pregnant and going to be a single mother. she reminds me of a book i read about a girl who as a single parent, and needed money. She began working for people and doing things that could cost her her family, but when times are hard and you need money its only one thing she knew how to do.
   They both tried to fend for their families the only way they know how. Most people would think down on them but until you are in their shoes you dont know what they are going through. They have to be ready mind body and soul, there is no second guessing your decision, once your in your in, no backing out. They  chose the life style because its easy money. When you have a family you will do anything to make sure they dont want for anything. All they wanted to do was support and take care of their family, family is the most important thing one has, because you cant always rely on friends.

second essay

The movie that i feel the protagonist stayed true to them self is Ludovick; My Life In Pink. He knew what he wanted to be since the beginning, he wanted to be a girl. Being a girl just seems so right to him, he doesnt want to be gay, but to change his gender to female. He went through plenty of things from moving, a counselor, moving again and not being accepted for who he is.
   The family relocated because their father got a well paying job. They had a house warming party and as they were introducing the childing Ludovick came outside with make-up, hills, a dress and earrings. Many people that he was the families daughter until the daughter came out and he was revealed to be a boy. That first incounterment got the neighbors thinking that the new family would cause problems they just didnt know when.
   Ludovicks family said one day that it would have been great for them to have two boys and two girls instead of three boys and one girl. Ludovick took it upon his self to become the girl that the family always wanted, he just wanted to help the family, he had them in mind. he watched the things his big sister started to do and he would do them trying to learn all the in's and out's on how to be a girl.  He began to cause the family problems, he tried to be in a relationship with the boy next door, which is his fathers boss son. He really like the boy next door, even though he cant be with him he still tries.
   He began to do things he shouldnt do, the children in his school began to call him names nd tease him. through it all he still remained Ludovick! He wouldnt change t all, even though his family got him counseling he still kept his mind on being a girl. After too much began to happen in his new neighborhood the families didnt want them there anymore so the fathers boss layed him off, and the school principle kicked Ludovick out of his school because the parents signed a petition.
   His mother accepting  him wanting to be a girl, but once it started to effect their image as a family she soon stopped accepting him for who he wants to be. She soon stays on his back and forces him to do boys things instead of girl things. He got too much for her to handle and nobody would accept him so he moved with his grandmother, who let him be him. soon they had to move to a different neighborhood, which ment a new start for the family. But he still didnt want to be a girl, he got invited to a birthday party and they which costumes. He became the princess and the birthday girl put on his boy costume. His mother freaked out and beat him in front of everybody, the children told her that he didnt want to change but they forced him to. She soon realized that she had messed up big time now. He was trying to change for the family, after falling off a billboard because she seen Ludovick going away with the barbie, she soon realized that no matter what gender he wanted to be he will always be her child.
    She finally got it that he wanted to be a girl, and nothing was going to stop him at a young age. When his family accepted him for who he was he felt like he could now be who he really was in his heart; a girl. Plenty of things got in his way of being who he was but he didnt let that stop him. He kept on being him, the real him and not what his family wanted him to be. He followed his heart and didnt stop doing hat he believed in.

Please Vote For Me

Please Vote For Me takes place in China. The movie is about the students in thrird grade vote on who will be the class monitor. The parents, teacher, and students are all involved. Each candidate has to participate in a talent show, debate, and also give a speech. while at home the parents help coach the students memorize all the step and everything they have to do. This movie challenges those commitment to china's democratization.

The Kings Speach

King George vi, became king after his father had passed. When his father passed he said to one of his servents that George would be best fit king, and it ment a lot to him because his father never told him that. the king had a speach problem that he battled throughtout his life. He worked hard to over come his problem. He had a coach who did not give up on him, he tried to do plenty of things, but the king was relunctant to do some of the things he wanted him to do. The king practice and practiced to have his speach perfect for the big speach that would renite Great Britian.

 

    The king gave a powerful speach to renite his kingdom and country. He succeeded in the task at hand, but most of all as he continued with his speach, his speach problem began to inprove rapidly. he had to studder over his w's a few times so the people knew it was him, since his speach got way better then it did before. He no longer took a long pause in between every word or sentence. Throughtout his life he had 9 coaches to cure his speach.
   The speach was given during the war, he was reniting his country so they could become one whole again. The country needed the boost to get them through from their king. Great Britian soon became a powerful force with the people behind them, they really didnt have much but the people.

The Little Otik

The movie The Little Otik is about  a family who lived in a apartment building, and couldnt bore children. so they took in an tree branch and named him Otic. he started off ass  a regular baby bu soon turned into a monster. he went from eating milk, to eating cats, then to humans. many people in the building started to take notice in all the disappearing acts thats been happening.
    The family soon moved him down to the basement where no one would find him, but the little girl that lives next door payed attention to the family and knew what really was going on. she tried to tell people but they thought she was just a little girl who was making up this fairy tale in her child like mind. no one would listen to her, so she took matters into her own hands and began feeding Otik her self. he didnt eat her because she was helping him. she would bring him food from her home, soon her mom started to realize that food began missing out the fridge. her mom soon caught her in the act and told her she couldnt take any food from their house anymore.

    as more people started coming up missing the old lady that lived in the building started reporting it, so the police would come around and check things out but would not find anything. the little girls mother wanted to defend her family so she locked them into their home so no one can get in or out. soon Otik began to get hungry, even though he was told not to eat the cabage in the field or the old women will kill him. but he did not listen and the old women had to kill him.

hoop dreams

The movie hoop dreams is about two inner city youth teens who's dreams are to make it in the NBA to help their families. the talent these two young men had was very good, they could have went places with their talents. they faced so many challenges growing up from, poverty, education, money, and family.
    Their basketball dreams were going to get them somewhere in life and out the bad streets of Chicago. All they had was family, it was hard to survive in their environment, it was so poverty sticken. Arthurs family was on the verge of losing their home, because their mother got laid off. They struggled throughout the whole documentary, weather it was not being able to pay their bills, or not having food on the table. His father couldn't handle the pressure and began living the life of drugs. his home life was all bad, even so was his school. Arthur got recruited to go to a white school called St. Joseph High, it was a good school for him, it also worked for his basketball career, but he wasn't financially stable and wasn't able to continue to go to the school. Once he left St. Joseph's he did not attend school for two months, from there he went to Marshall High. He went through so much in his high school life, from his father resorting to drugs and abandoning their family, to them on the verge of losing their house. He did not it his environment get him down, he continued to strive and was able to take his team all the way to the championship game; where they lost but still played good. His grades and act test score wasn't high enough to go to a division one school, so he had to settle for a junior college first. After school he did not proceed with his dream of becoming a professional basketball player, he became a preacher, and went on to teach a program for the children to help them never forget their dreams and to proceed it. the organization Hoop Dreams helps children with education also, he goes to different schools throughout the world and speak on his life and dreams, but also to continue on with school and get an education.
    William Gates always dreamed about playing in the NBA, he wanted to get his family out of the ghetto and into a safe environment. He got recruited to play at St. Joseph's High and he was the only freshman to start the varsity team. he was the main focus at the school, mainly they were focused on him winning them the championship that they got a rich family to pay half of his tuition at the school. He had so much pressure on him to make it into the NBA, everyone wanted him to from family to friends. he had a daughter in his junior year of high school, but did not tell his coach or anyone about it. he didnt want to mess anything up, but the burden became to heavy and he decided to tell, he got help for his child just like they helped him. he always had a drive for basketball, until he tore something in his leg and he couldn't play for a while tell it healed. it always got to him because no matter how many surgeries he has had he always would re-fracture his knee. after his knee problems he kind of lost focus in everything from school, to basketball. he felt that without his knee right he wouldn't be able to perform like he used to. since not doing any work in school when it came time to pass his act test, he had to take it twice because he did not pass the first time, and in order to get int a division one school he had to have at lease an 18 on his test. he finally got the 18 and decided to go to Marquette College where his older brother went but never got the chance to play.  After graduating from Marquette William became a real estate agent. in 2001 he got the offer to play for the washington, wizards but couldnt play because he had injured his foot.
     these two young men had people waiting for them to go pro. they had people counting on them. William's brother Curtis was depending on him, he put all his time and day into him, he wanted him to make it because he didnt make it. but he died after the film was being shot. Arthur's father wanted him to make it, he lived in Arthur's shadow because he never got the chance to make it into the NBA so all his hopes and dreams went into his son. everyone wanted these two young men to make it, they started off loving the game of basketball but as they were pushed and tried it just became like  a job to them and no longer became just a game.

Run Lola Run

The movie Run Lola Run was filmed in Germany. Its about a young girl named Lola who races against time, she needs to get to her boy friend and help him get money before his life is tooken. The movie is all about time, if you are late then you mess up whatever plans there are. Its told in three different perspectives,  the what ifs in a situation. she has flashes determining someones life when they rub off wrong to her. Its in a graphic novel view.

In the movie Lola races against time to save her boyfriend from being killed.  Time is everything in Germany. She is late once and it shows her that anything can happen within the few seconds she was late. she runs all around town to get to her boyfriend before twelve o'clock. In the first one she gets there one minute too late and has to help her boy friend rob the grocery store, in which she ends up getting shot by the police and dies.
   Waiting also plays a big role in the film, bacause after they waited and thought about their actions, things started to fall into place. They both got to the meeting place on time, and they got the money that they needed to pay back. Lola goes through plenty of trouble to get te money for Manney, because of her being late. she tells Mannney throughout the movie to just wait for her and she will be there. When he didnt wait things turned out for the worse, she was put in a position one would not like to be put in. Peoples life is put in danger, the movie shows that family is all you have, when you abandon your family you have nothing left. In the end family ends up being the one there for you when you need them the most.

Maria Full of Grace

Maria Full Of Grace is about a Columbian  pregnant teen who becomes a drug mule to make money for her family. She flew to the U.S with sixty-two pellets of cocaine in her stomach, but once she gets to New York things dont go as she has planned.



Maria Full Of Grace is a good movie i really liked it. Its about a girl a girl who lost her job and was in need of a job to help her family. Her family really depended on her to bring in money to the household, so when a friend presented her the offering of becoming a mule she took the job.
     She lied to her family that she got a job working in a big office, so that they wouldnt know what she was really doing. Soon after having  a meeting with Don Fernado she noticed she wasnt the only girl who was going to be a mule. She formed a relationship with a girl named Lucy, her best friend Blanca also decided to become a mule. Everyone was nervous, because you never know when you will bbe caught by the police.
    While on the plane one of Lucy's bags in her stomach end up busting, and she slowly began to die. She died in the hotel, but before the men took her body out they cut her open to take the rest of the drugs out of her stomach. Maria got scared so her and Blanca decided to leave. When they left the hotel they went to a home in New York where Lucy said her sister lived. they stayed there for two days until she found out that they were mules and her sister was dead. Maria decided to call the men  back to givethem their drug so they could get their money so they could go back to Columbia.
     After they got their money, they went to they airport to board he plane but Maria wanted to stay behind in America where she can raise a good life for her child.   

Afghan Star

Afghan Star is about the people in Afghanistan who enter into an talent show where they sing for the country, where the people will vote on who they think is the best. They based the movie on the American show American Idol. They had to do things very traditional or the people will not vote for them. If they dont do right by their country, the people will go against them.

While watching the movie it reminded me alot of the American show American Idol, they went around to neighboring countries to find the best singers. In order to win you had to have the most votes from the people, anything wrong in the peoples eyes they will not vote for you. The movie was very cultural, they did everything under their cultural beliefs.
     The girl that was picked to go to the finals did a beautiful song biut she did a little dance. To the poeple of her home town that was a sign of disrepect. A women in their country isnt suppose to dance, expecially on tv in front of everyone. Many people felt she let her home town down. As people got interview they said she should be killed, she had to live in an other country to stay safe. As the show got to its final three, she got eliminated because of the dance she did on stage, and her people wouldnt support her. When she returned home they had to sheild her so that she wouldnt be killed or harmed.
     When they showed videos of how their country used to be before they all started worshiping the Islamic Nation. The people was able to dress how they pleased and they were able to sing without an hassle. To the people music is accepted, music is all they really have, so for them to have the music contest was good. With nothing to really do the people listened to music. Many wish the country could go back to how i used to be, where everyone was free to do what they liked.
     The man with the long hair was the that won the contest, he got most votes and it made the people happy. The people did make a good choice because he did have a good voice to match what the people were looking for.

Mongolian Ping Pong

       Mongolian Ping Pong is about three boys who set out to return a ball they found. They think they have to go all the way to Beijing to return the ping pong. Its really abut three boys who are very curious to things in life. One soon has to go off to school, which is in the city, where he soon finds out what they do with the ping pong.

       Mongolian Ping pong is about three young boys who finds a ping pong, and they want to return it to Beijing. They think thy have to return the national ball. They set out on a trip to Beijing to return the ball, but soon have to go back home because they tried to cross the dessert with no water to drink. The boys got a ride from a man because their horses wouldn't get them home fast enough.
      When they got home they all got in trouble by their parents. One of the boys had an responsibility to keep the ball, but his mother taks it and smashes. the next day the boys come together to show the other boys what they found but all they got was a smashed ping pong ball.
       Soon it was time for the oldest boy to start school, as he is in school he is walking around the school. He soon finds a room, with all ping pong players. He figures this is where the ping pongs come from.

The Weeping Camel

The Weeping Camel won an award for best documentary. A family helps their camel herd give birth, the mother soon rejects the baby. In which causes the family to call upon an lamas who perform a ritual with bread or dough.
      The family sends their two youngest boy on a journey through the desert to the community marketplace. Which they had to locate a musician for an Mongolian ritual. The ritual happens to bind the mother and her calf back together, in which she begins to weep. I think the camel began to weep because she distanced herself from her child, she just didnt feel a connection to the baby. Plus it was her first calf, so she didnt know how to feel.
   

I think the movie The Weeping Camel is about family. The Family in the movie is main characters, they are all about togetherness. They attempted plenty of times to get the camel to have a connection with its baby, but he just was not connected. The mother sends her two sons out to town to get someone to do a ritual, because without one the camels baby will not be able to make it. With the ritual they hope the camel will come to her senses and accept that she finally has a child that needs to be looked after.
     Throughout the movie they do thins as a family, they sit together and eat. Their clothing are nice and fully designed in details.  There is two huts one where the family lives and one where the grandparents live.  Their homes are generally small but nicely decorated with art. The family and near by families experience a sand storm, they close their huts up very good to prevent the sand from entering their home. After he storm they call on to nature to stop the storm from coming again, and to prevent it from hurting the animals.
   As the movie comes to an end, the ritual happens and the camel finally decides to become a mother to her calf. It made the family happy because the mother the only one that could help that calf. The family couldn't keep feeding it through a bottle. The movie ended on a good ending, the mother finally realizes she does have some one who is counting on her and need her. For them to come together as one was something the family hoped for.
